(VAN) That is the assessment of Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien at the meeting with the Research Institute for Aquaculture II (RIA 2) on the morning of July 28.

Reporting to the Delegation, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of the Research Institute for Aquaculture II (RIA 2), said, in recent years, the general management of science and technology activities of the Institute has been consolidated and systematic.

A number of scientific and technological tasks have been tested and accepted, brought results and started to apply and transfer into production practice. Participating in writing proposals for ordering science and technology tasks has been improved and is close to actual production. Participation in the selection bidding was expanded with many funding sources and achieved a high success rate.

In terms of production, analysis and consulting services, units continue to effectively use scientific and technological products of topics and projects in practice, exploit the facilities of the units and contribute to boosting production, bringing in revenue for the unit.

The Institute maintains and expands cooperation links with businesses in research, trial production and technology transfer.

The Institute always creates favourable conditions for researchers, especially young and capable staff and the opportunity to participate in domestic and foreign training programs to improve professional qualifications. This is to meet the increasing requirements for staff working in the field of research...

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien spoke at the meeting with the Research Institute of Aquaculture 2.

As a result, the number of annual projects (transition and opening) in the period 2015-2023 of RIA 2 is relatively stable.

In addition to regular duties according to functions (8 tasks/year), each year the number of projects at all levels (State, ministerial, local, international cooperation, consulting and testing) about 28-42 project topics.

Among them, there are highly appreciated topics such as research on breeding pangasius to improve growth and perfecting the technology for breeding red tilapia with rapid growth. This also includes research, perfecting and developing the technological process of brackish water shrimp farming with high efficiency and sustainability in Vietnam...

However, RIA 2 is still facing difficulties and limitations. In particular, the infrastructure, factories, ponds, equipment and machinery of the Institute have been invested for a long time. They have expired, ran out of depreciation or become obsolete, so they cannot meet and catch up with the actual implementation needs of science, technology and digital transformation tasks.

In order to improve scientific research capacity, carry out project projects, and contribute more to aquaculture development in the South, RIA 2 has made proposals and recommendations to MARD on facilities, investment in scientific and technological equipment, and human resources...

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien highly appreciated the achievements and contributions of the Research Institute of Aquaculture 2 in the field of aquaculture over the past time. Particularly in terms of annual scientific research tasks related to fisheries, the Institute is the unit that proposes the most topics, the best quality and the right subjects.

The Deputy Minister also suggested solutions for the Institute regarding difficulties, problems and limitations related to infrastructure, equipment, and human resources.
