(VAN) According to estimates by the General Statistics Office, in the first 2 months, Vietnam's seafood exports reached $ 1.3 billion, up 22.3% over 2023.

Statistics from the General Department of Customs show that in January 2024, Vietnam's seafood exports reached 185.96 thousand tons, worth nearly $ 750 million, an increase of 73.2% in volume and 65.1% in value over the same period in 2023.

In January 2024, exports of most types of seafood from Vietnam increased sharply compared to the same period in 2023. Notably, exports of two key products, shrimp of all kinds and pangasius, have the highest growth rate.

Vietnam's export of all kinds of shrimp in January 2024 reached 29 thousand tons, worth more than $ 239 million, up 78.8% in volume and 71.8% in value compared to the same period in 2023. Pangasius exports reached 78.3 thousand tons, worth nearly $ 165 million, up 119.6% in volume and 97.1% in value compared to January 2023. Exports of the next largest seafood products such as tuna, squid, and fish cakes... all increased sharply compared to the same period in 2023.

In February 2024, Vietnam's seafood exports are estimated to reach $ 550 million, down 9.6% over the same period in 2023, after a strong increase of 65.1% in January 2024.

Although Vietnam's seafood exports decreased in February, thanks to a strong increase in January, in the first 2 months of 2024, Vietnam's seafood exports still reached $ 1.3 billion, an increase of 22.3% over the same period in 2023.

With a positive start in the first 2 months of 2024, along with the world economy gradually recovering, inflation decreasing, and inventory decreasing..., it is expected that Vietnam's seafood exports will continue to recover well in 2024, especially in the last 6 months of the year.
